Help Emma!

Okay so some people have asked me to know more about Emmas story/background so I thought I would post it here so you can read it for yourselves.

Emma is 19 and has suffered from depression and bulimia since she went through a tough time with an aggressive, drunk family member. She moved out at 17 and started her own life. She was so strong and had made a difference to so many people through charity work, fundraising etc. She was happy.

I grew up with Emma and seen how she handled everything, I was quite amazed. She worked so hard and got all her GCSEs and Alevels, then got accepted to university. She really deserved it. But just before she was due to start university one of our best friends got leukemia for the 2nd time. Emma didn’t want to move away anymore but we all encouraged her to, wanted her to make something for herself, so she did.

6months later and our friend passed away. Emma flew home for the funeral and said she felt guilty for not being there and was upset because she never got to see her before she passed. Emma fell into a complete state of depression and self destruction. She started taking drugs, self harming and her bulimia came back stronger. She tried to keep it all hidden and moved back to university. I went to stay with her for a while and she managed to get off the drugs and stop self harming but the bulimia stuck. Her health went downhill and the university started asking questions.

About 2 months after this I got a call from Emma who said she was just on her way back from hospital. Said she had just suffered a miscarriage. She didn’t sound upset and I was confused but she just said that she didn’t even know she was pregnant so how could she miss something she never knew she had. This may sound cold but it turns out that Emma was completely torn about it but she felt guilty because she thinks the bulimia may have killed her baby.

She became withdrawn, I barely heard from her so I went to see her again and found out that the Uni havd asked her to leave due to her mental and physical health. She was self harming and badly bulimic. I used to try and stop her, hold her back but I realised it was no use.

Now she has been admitted to a mental health ward here at home after a suicide attempt and she was fighting so hard. She wants to get better badly but always says “it just takes over, it won’t let me” She has made progress as she does not self harm. However I fear that she is starting to give up, says she is too tired to fight it. I won’t let her.

So this is why I ask for support. I’m asking people to send Emma messages of support that can be given to her and help her see hope and see that people care, people that don’t even know her see that she can have hope again.

**EDIT** Emma was out of the mental health ward but unfortunately has been readmitted after her anorexia and bulimia took over once again. She spent a few weeks in a general ward getting tests and treatment as it was found she has damage to her kidneys and stomach and she had an irregular heartbeat. It was then that doctors had to take action and Emma was tube fed & then re-admitted to the mental health, eating disorders secure hospital.

Emma is still inspired by music and the support before from Paramore fans was unbelieveable so please keep it up, it helps more than you will know. Emma is a huge Paramore & Marianas Trench fan. Josh Ramsays own story inspires her everyday. So please keep trying to get her story to both these bands. That would be one of the best things I could tell Emma.

Please keep the messages of support coming as they made such a differnce before and can again. Emma can fight this. Keep passing her story on.
